How much does specialty coffee cost in Paris?

Specialty coffee isn't cheap, but it's priced fairly considering all the work behind it. From farming to brewing, each step costs money. If you pay very little, someone down the line is likely getting a raw deal. In pricey Paris, coffee costs vary, so here's what to expect:

  • - Espresso: € 2 - 4,-
  • - Americano: € 3.50 - 6,-
  • - Cappucino: € 4 - 6,-
  • - Pour-over: € 6 - 10,-
  • - Plant-based milk: € 0 - 0.70
  • - Bag of coffee beans (200-250 gram): € 10 - 24,-
  • - Sweets: € 3 - 6,-
  • - (small) Lunch: € 9 - 18,-

This is an indication, and as you can see, prices can vary quite a bit. On average, it's safe to say that you'll spend somewhere around 5 euros for a 'regular' cup of coffee. When it comes to beans, the price can make a significant difference. For instance, at Noir, you might easily pay 24 euros for 200 grams of coffee, whereas Canopi sets you back about 12 euros for 250 grams of coffee. That's 120 euros to 48 euros per kilo respectively – a substantial difference.

Fun fact: Many cafes in Paris will charge you the same amount for an undrinkable coffee – quite the easy choice, isn't it?
